Grand Canyon Elopement Guide:

GETTING TO THE GRAND CANYON

Flights to the Grand Canyon: The closest international airport is Phoenix SkyHarbor, with Las Vegas as an optional choice. 3 to 4 hr drives respectively.

Entering the Park: There are two entrances, the South and the East. Coming from Phoenix, the East Entrance is an option if you want to enjoy smaller lines and the Desert View (rim) drive. If you hold a pass called America the Beautiful, it’s free to enter (available at REI). The South Entrance is the busiest as it enters directly into the Village of Tusayan, the commercial hub.

Wedding Permits: There are 6 viewpoint locations available for your permit, and vary in the ability to accomodate guests, access, catering and bathrooms. Grand Canyon wedding permits start at $240 for your Grand Canyon Location. For $500. you can have the most private location Shoshone Pt. permit with the largest area for guests & catering, a covered gazebo with picnic tables, bathrooms, and (in my opinion) the best view location for your elopement. Shoshone Pt. books up the quickest, so put your application in!

SEASONS & SUNSETS

We highly suggest choosing a weekday. The Grand Canyon is remarkable any time of year. Winters are cold & windy and may have snow closures, however you can have the the entire park to yourselves! Summers are gorgeous with beautiful temperature, yet highly populated. A great window is fringe season of late Aug-Sept and March-June. The park has a bus schedule for a few of the view points, as driving is not an option, such as Yaki Pt. and Hermit Scenic overlook. Regardless of the season, the SUNSET is the best lighting. Sunrises are also an option if you are a morning person.

Secure your lodging, once you have secured your permit for your wedding date with the Park. The Squire is newly remodeled and considered a bride’s choice for staying at the Canyon. Little America in Flagstaff is an hour away. The Grand Canyon Train & Hotel is 45 min. away in historic Williams. Your photographer can guide you through the process and recommend vendors for florals, hair & make-up, catering & bakeries. Shoshone Pt. is the only view location that allows catering. All services are based in Flagstaff and Williams, a 45 min. drive away. Grand Canyon Bride offers an all-inclusive package that will include your photography & Officiant and bouquet.
